Intimidated by hair oils? Not quite sure how to use them or if you are using them properly? We got you covered!
While all hair types can benefit from using a hair oil, the catch is finding the right one with quality ingredients, that doesn't dry your hair out, weigh your hair down, or make it feel greasy. That's why Bella Gaura's Butterfly Secrets Luxury Hair Elixir is a perfectly balanced, lightweight blend that strengthens the hair, reduces split ends, decreases frizz, lubricates hair strands, protect hair against environmental stressors, and enhances shine and luster. All the benefits your crown needs, no matter the hair type, without the nonsense!
But how do you use it!? Great question.
It's important to know that there are sealing oils and penetrating oils and some with functions of both. Sealing oils primarily serve to lock in a seal moisture, whereas penetrating oils are able to penetrate the hair shaft and hair follicles. Now, why is this important? Depending on the type of hair oil you are using, the way it is best used will be different.
Examples of sealing oils: apricot oil, castor oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil
Examples of penetrating oils: argan oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil
Both of our luxury elixirs are a unique balance of both sealing and penetrating oils allowing them to be multi-purpose. However, this may not be true for all hair oils you use.
As a basic rule of thumb, the best way and most basic way to use a hair oil or even a scalp oil for that matter is to introduce water into the equation first, meaning you should wet your hair or scalp prior to applying any oil. Depending on what method works best for you, you can use the LOC method or the LCO method for your hair strands. L=liquid (water or water+leave-in conditioner), O= oil, C= cream (moisturizer). The arrangement of the letters for each method is the order in which the products should be applied. If applying an oil to your scalp, please refrain from adding anything other than water and the oil of your choice. You want to do your best to keep your scalp clean and healthy.
As you get acclimated to using hair oils the most basic way, there are more fanciful ways you can use hair oils for example as a pre-wash treatment, hot oil treatment, oil rinse, conditioning treatment, or shine boost and defrizzer! Hair oils are absolutely amazing when you use them properly and when you use the right oil.
